Call for Community Involvement

Thank you for your interest in the recruitment process for Austin's next Police Chief.  While change can be difficult and uncomfortable, it also brings opportunity. Like so many communities across the nation, we are seeking transformational change in the area of public safety.  Initiatives like reimagining public safety, budget decoupling, department restructuring, and most recently the announcement of Chief Manley’s retirement, all provide unique opportunities to work together to bring new leadership in alignment with community values and commitment to equity and engagement.

As part of our community involvement process, we'd like to get your feedback on the characteristics and priorities we should be discussing during our interviews and community discussions. Your feedback will be used to help shape those discussions and to provide us with valuable insight as we consider the candidates for the permanent position.
